Benefiting Gleaners Food Bank

It all started with a dream and an idea. The dream was that no one should go hungry while food was going to waste. The idea was to create a distribution network that would provide local non-profit agencies with a low cost, reliable source of food for hungry people.

We keep the Gleaners Food Bank dream alive when we come together to help feed our community. In 2009 we collected over 5,100 pounds of food and raised $15,900.00 in cash! Times are still bad in our industry, unemployment is at an all time high . Food Banks currently do not have enough food to feed the people in our community that are in need. Parents and children all around us are going to bed hungry and we have an opportunity to help.

About Gleaners

For more than 33 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has been “nourishing communities by feeding hungry people.” Last year, Gleaners distributed more than 36 million pounds of emergency food to over 484 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties.
